Setiabudi 13 Mutilation
The case of Setiabudi 13 mutilation is a case which is said to be the first mutilation case in Indonesia which is quite popular among the public. Because it happened on Setiabudi street, this case is also known as 'Mutilasi Setiabudi 1981', 'Setiabudi 13', or 'Pesona 13'.
One morning on November 23, 1981, two security guards of PT Garuda Mataram Motor found 2 boxes lying on the sidewalk on Jenderal Sudirman street. Precisely, at the intersection of Setiabudi street, South Jakarta.
Initially the existence of the boxes was not too suspicious. But over time they became suspicious because the box was covered in flies and smelled bad. Both of them did not dare to immediately check the contents of the box. The two security guards then walked to the police post at the intersection, which was not too far from the location.
Unfortunately, due to the busy traffic conditions, the police who were on guard were reluctant to handle the reports of the two security guards because at that time the road was at the peak of traffic jams, so that the police who were walking preferred to unravel the traffic flow first.
At the same time, there were two homeless people pawing garbage around the scene. Both of them intend to take the cardboard box, then sell it to collectors. When it will be taken, the cardboard feels heavy. Finally, they decided to open the box and unpack the contents.
How shocking the contents of the box! The first box contained a human head and 12 pieces of bones. Meanwhile, another box contains 180 pieces of meat and human entrails. The police immediately conducted a serious investigation into the case. This terrible case made Jakarta residents in an uproar at the time.
The body pieces were then immediately taken to the RSCM for autopsy by Dr.Mun'im Idries. One of the leading forensic doctors in Indonesia who has handled large cases. For example, the murder of a beautiful artist from the era of Ditje Budimulyono and a mass sodomy case committed by Robot Gedhek. He also investigated the case of the death of President Soekarno, human rights activist Munir, and labor activist Marsinah.
In his examination, Mun'im then arranged the pieces into a single body that was almost intact. It turns out that the anus, bladder, and pancreas of the victim are gone. Through the bodies that have been compiled, Mun'im came to some conclusions. The victim is a man suffering from phimosis. The age range is 18-21 years, height 165 centimeters, well-built, and somewhat obese. Based on the forensic signs of the victim, Mun'im suspected the mutilation process would take place on November 21 evening until the following morning.
Mun'im also believes that this action was not carried out by ordinary people. The cut is so neat and to cut the bones clean is also not easy. At the very least, it takes more than two people to do the work in such a short amount of time. As an illustration, even for a professional forensic team that has been trained, it takes more than two hours to simply dissect a corpse. While the perpetrators, allegedly only takes 3-4 hours.
"Uniquely, the face was left unharmed, the palms were still there, the soles of the feet were still there. The rest were like goat bolsters, sliced by hundreds of pieces. Lung, liver, spleen, still intact," Mun'im said at the 'Mata Najwa' .
Generally, the perpetrators of the killings will dismember the victim as a way to eliminate the victim's identity. Thus, the crime he committed could not be known by others. However, in this case, all the victims' bodies that were 'generally' eliminated by the perpetrators became the only one intact. Everything is still intact and seems deliberately left unharmed.
Although it is very strange and indeed difficult to understand the motivation of the perpetrators to do this, but the vital signs are considered as very helpful evidence. Immediately, the police immediately sketched the faces and fingerprints of the victims to be distributed as widely as possible. In fact, at that time, the media exposed this case on a large scale.
However, until today no information has come about the identity of the victim. There was never a family, relatives, or colleagues who claimed to know or at least, could see the victim. The police investigation finally deadlocked.
Until 39 years ago, this case had not been solved. This case is also referred to as the pioneer of sadistic mutilation cases in Indonesia, which inspired other perpetrators of crime to do the same.
There are rumors that this case is related to the mafia. Nevertheless, there is no evidence about that. Do I believe in this case? Of course, because this is an unsolved mystery, not a myth.
Okay, that's all the discussion on the setiabudi mutilation case 13. Unfortunately, in the past there was no CCTV that made it easy to investigate. So what do you think? Please comment in the comments section!
